In 1822 a small group of people came together in Christian fellowship in the Millingport area. Over the next 195 years, our church has grown in membership from an outdoor arbor setting to the present day building which is described as Gothic Revival. The location was well chosen because of a never failing spring nearby and all things considered, the place is ideal and ,like Mt. Zion , the place is "beautiful for situation". Psalms 48:2
At Salem, the Church Family is at the center of all services and activities. Visitors are warmly greeted and made to feel welcome. Sunday School classes range from nursery, through grade 12 and college, couples as well as men's and women's classes. There are activities for children, senior youth, adults and seniors. Community outreach programs such as 60 Plus, Meals on Wheels and special events provide the members of Salem an opportunity to move from the church grounds to the world.
Salem is family, friends, love and a belief in the teachings of John Wesley; "Do all the good you can do, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can"
